Sarah Nelson Craft

Mezzo-soprano and Brooklyn native Sarah Nelson Craft has received wide acclaim for her solo and operatic performances.  Opera News hailed her as “exquisite… glowing… genuine” at Carnegie Hall and praised her “warm, rich voice [that] brought out the magic” as Dorabella with LoftOpera. Known for her vibrant and engaging storytelling abilities, she has been presented in recital by Carnegie Hall, Five Boroughs Music Festival, Brooklyn Art Song Society, and Music Academy of the West, collaborating with renowned pianists including Warren Jones and Martin Katz. Last season she brought her passion for early music to the title role in Handel’s Solomon with New York Baroque, Inc. and Amor Artis Chorus. Other solo concert highlights have included Bach’s Mass in B minor at Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall, Mozart’s Coronation Mass at Alice Tully Hall, Vivaldi’s Gloria at Carnegie Hall, Mahler’s Symphony No.2 with the New Jersey Festival Orchestra, Canteloube’s Chants d’Auvergne with the Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra, and Brahms’ Alto Rhapsody with Princeton Pro Musica. On the opera stage, favorite roles have included La Cenerentola, Cherubino, Hansel, Dido, Hermia, and Cendrillon. She recently brought her “pleasing, well-formed mezzo” (Opera UK) to the challenging role of Piramo in Johann Adolph Hasse’s Piramo e Tisbe with The Little Opera Theatre of NY. Ms. Craft has performed with companies including the Caramoor International Music Fesitval, New York City Opera, Opera North, and the Macau International Music Festival.
